Killer FogOne of my favorite new TV series has been the Netflix original, The Crown, which tells the fascinating story of Queen Elizabeth II, current queen of the United Kingdom. The Crown focuses on the early years when Elizabeth first became queen in 1952, and one of the episodes deals with the killer fog of ’52.

This fog descended on London for five days, killing thousands of people and reducing visibility to zero. The killer fog has long been connected to coal emissions, but now Texas A&M University researchers believe they know the exact chemical processes behind this strange and deadly event.
